DownloadSquad.com Launches an Emurse Job Board!

by Alex Rudloff on Nov 3rd, 2009
One site is a job board. Two is a job network.

We're thrilled to announce that DownloadSquad.com has joined the Emurse.com Job Board posse. They've joined forces with TUAW.com to become a "Technology channel". Meaning, you post your job to either site and it'll be distributed on both. Double the audience, double the exposure.

Looking for a software developer or a designer? How about someone to develop that mobile app that's going to make you all sorts of Scrooge McDuck rich? These are the boards for you. $350 for 31 days of job posting awesomeness on both sites, plus tons of coverage from the bloggers in their round ups and editorials, not to mention a job ad injected underneath each and every post. We're talking millions of readers passionate about technology on all platforms.

Killer stuff, and as always, more to come!

Emurse Launches Job Board on TUAW.com!

by Alex Rudloff on Oct 26th, 2009
It's been a long time coming, but we're pleased to announce the launch of our first Emurse enabled job board on The Unofficial Apple Weblog!

TUAW.com is a leading community of Apple enthusiasts attracting millions of unique visitors. Since it's an Emurse powered product, every job listing on TUAW will allow you to apply using your Emurse web URL. Once you apply, we'll keep track of things for you and keep you posted on your applications status (we have a ton of new functionality heading your way maximizing this!). When there aren't many listings available for whatever it is you are looking for, CareerBuilder listings will appear, thus guaranteeing quality results every visit :)

If you are an employer looking for a web designer, iPhone developer, blogger or any other technology / web position, check it out! Posting a job on TUAW not only gets your listing in their job center, but also gets your position advertised on every relevant blog post on their site. The more people who apply, the more knowledgeable our distribution efforts. And of course, there's all the traffic you would expect from outside the community as well -- twitter, job aggregation sites, Emurse users and the like.

Give it a spin and let us know what you think!

Emurse Gets a New Dress

by Alex Rudloff on Jun 23rd, 2009
Now that we're a part of the AOL family, we figured it was high time for a site refresh. Major props to Andy for our kicking new look and feel.

The biggest change is really the header. "Website" has moved underneath "My Resumes" and we now have a "Resources" tab. This new design gives us much more flexibility with new features, and believe you me.. We have a slew of them planned!

You'll also find that we're now using CareerBuilder for our jobs partner much like other AOL properties. What we lost in meta-search capabilities, we now gain in world wide support -- Emurse.com's job search now handles 16 different countries. Keep an eye on search over the summer, as we are planning big big changes to that portion of the site.

The blog is also completely refreshed (finally). We now have support for replies and comment rating as well as much more powerful search functionality. Searching for jobs and blog posts is now integrated on every page of Emurse as well.

If you happen to run across any bugs or have any other feedback -- leave a comment and let us know! And as you might expect, lots of big things planned for this summer and fall, so stay tuned!

Emurse is Hiring!

by Alex Rudloff on May 4th, 2009
Emurse has two full time positions open for domestic-based ninjas. Not just any ninjas. Super ninjas. The kind who are so ninja-ish we won't even know that they have applied. They'll just show up and be like.. "Your code's been re-factored! Booyaka!"

Only, you know, they will have actually applied and not just broken in, and they probably won't actually yell booyaka. "Boom goes the dynamite" is the new trend these days.

(ahem)

We currently have two positions available:

Principal UI Designer

UPDATE 5/7/09: The design position has been filled! :)

Official Description:

An AA, BA or advanced degree in related fields that include: Interactive Design, Graphic Design, Cognitive Psychology, Engineering, Computer Science, and UI Design or Library Science. At least 3-5 years experience with a design firm, advertising agency, technology company or corporation focusing on developing tactical solutions and larger design systems. Exposure to all phases of web design and development process from ideation to implementation.

Has an excellent portfolio of work that demonstrates knowledge in interactive projects. Has a firm grounding in information organizational Principals: hierarchy, taxonomy, layout, and systems theory. Has expert knowledge of PhotoShop, Illustrator, flowchart and wireframe tools. Understanding of front-end technologies including: CSS, HTML, DHTML, and Javascript. Conceptual understanding of back-end web development technologies.

Experience dedicated to internet retail and/or consumer oriented business with a sales focus. Understanding of industry transforming technologies including transaction capabilities.

What we'll be looking for specifically:

All of the above, plus a background with small agile teams. The ability to work 1:1 with developers. Strong css/html. Strong creativity and desire to innovate. Fast turn around. Ability to match, work with and extend the Emurse.com look and feel. We focus a great deal on user experience and need someone with similar sentiments.

Principal Software Engineer / Architect

Official Description:

Bachelor's degree in CS or related field or equivalent experience. 4-6 years of directly related experience. Strong database, programming, analysis and leadership skills. Strong software architecture understanding and ability to oversee technology projects. Ability to solve significant problems in products that need to be resolved before shipment or delivery to the client. Understand, effectively use and may coach lower level engineers on AOL technical tools, applications, and procedures. Review code. Effectively communicate technical aspects of the job to both technical and non-technical audiences. Understand how group's activities fit with other groups and the entire product.

What we'll be looking for specifically
:

All of the above, plus someone with strong leadership skills and ability to organize/lead a small agile team. Experience with international teams are a plus. We're a LAMP based project, so skill set should be in line with that. Memcache, mySQL, Apache are all big components. Ability to build/code quickly. Dependable, take charge, organized, etc.

General Information applicable to both:

We're a work-from-home team
but if someone is in Orlando, NYC or DC and would prefer otherwise, I'd suspect we could round up a desk. Both positions are super-senior positions. We aren't looking to build a big team, just a highly qualified one (hence why they're both Principal level positions). We have a ton of great improvements planned for the site and things should be a heck of a lot of fun.

How to Apply:

If you're up for working on the next generation of Emurse.com, feel free to apply directly to me (alex at emurse dot com).

Oh, and please use an emurse resume link... It'd just be way too awkward otherwise. ;)

Emurse now a part of the AOL Network

by Alex Rudloff on Apr 15th, 2009

We're very excited to announce that we have been acquired by AOL.

We've been pretty quiet on our blog recently, and much of that relates to us finishing up our transition into the AOL network. There are still a few steps for us to take, but once things have been completed, expect some pretty exciting things around here!

If, for whatever reason, you are uncomfortable with your data changing hands, we've set things up for you to remove your account. Simply log into Emurse.com and click on "Account". From there, you should see an option titled "Account Removal" (bottom on the left). If you have any problems with this process, drop us a line and we'll take care of it for you.

As part of our transition to AOL, we ask you to take a moment to review the AOL Network Privacy Policy (http://about.aol.com/aolnetwork/aol_pp) and the Terms of Service (http://about.aol.com/aolnetwork/terms_use).

We want to thank each and every one of our users for supporting us over the years. It means so much to have created a useful product and great supporting content. At this point, Emurse has helped millions of visitors from all over the world. I can't wait to help millions more :)

Stay tuned.
