Most Job Postings Get a Failing Grade

CareerBuilder internal data suggests that 34% of candidates that try to apply for a job don't because the application process is too much of a hassle. 24% report the "apply now" link is broken and 21% report that the long application process isn't worth their time.


My clients tell me unbelievable stories about how difficult some companies make the online posting process. It seems like a lot of great candidates are getting away because they can't be bothered with most company's poorly worded job postings and frustrating posting processes.

Oracle's CEO recently announced plans for approximately 1,000 layoffs at Sun Microsystems on top of the 7,600 jobs that they have already cut. Macy's plans to cut 1,500 store level jobs. And a similar layoff scene is playing out in companies across the nation. Yet many people wait until the other shoe drops before making any plans about future employment. Bad plan. Even if you think your job is not in jeopardy today, you should always be proactively managing your career because stuff happens...quickly.
